Fooling Around With My New Toy (Tool?)

As I wrote about the other day, I picked up a camcorder so I can start documenting racing events and other things. Today I finally got a chance to take the camera out and shoot some video around the neighborhood. The sakura are blooming pretty nice right now so I figured it would be a good time to grab some footage.

Here is what I came up with after some quick editing-

The whole thing was shot over a span of about 20-30 minutes this afternoon. I’m a newcomer to YouTube so I’m not really sure what rendering methods look best for YouTube but hopefully I will figure it out soon. You can hand me my Oscar now.

looks good, like the music. You said it was an HD camera? If so have you thought about uploading on to torrents and usenet. How much HD japanese car action is there ;) Sure loads of people would be interested.

    Thanks guys.

The music is “Mellow Jam” by Steady&co. , a Japanese
    hip hop group.

When I start doing car videos I will also post high res versions to download as well as YouTube versions for ease of use.

Pretty good for a first timer, music goes well too! High res for download and normal for YouTube, good plan, we’ll be thanking you!

Mike is it a hard drive camera? If so I know we ran into problems taking incar footage with them. It would sense the vibration and shut down to protect the drive. Maybe there are ways around it? I dunno.

    Rob,

Ive been checking out your blog recently. Looks like you are living it up. I love that Honda bike you posted!

This cam is still based on DV tapes so there is no hard disk. I went with the tape model because A, it was cheaper and B, I can store the raw footage on inexpensive tapes instead of taking up hd space. I wasn’t aware of any problems like that for the hard disk cams, but now that I hear that I am glad I went with a tape model.
